Funding Application

Hello and welcome to the Skydive Broncos! At Western Michigan University, we work to provide experiential opportunity for fellow students by making accessible the transformative experience of this great sport. Because skydiving is, unfortunately, so expensive and the demand to join the Skydive Broncos is so high, we have implemented an application process to determine which individuals receive access to funds for the coming year.

In effect, this application is meant to be a catalyst to develop a future leader of the Skydive Broncos by financially supporting their 25 jump USPA A-license progression. It is meant to fund and accelerate their entire progression from the first jump course (FJC) up until the completion of their A-license.

While this application process will determine the individuals who will receive access to team funding and resources, we hope that whatever the result of your application that it will not deter your participation in the sport. This process does not exist to limit access to skydiving at WMU, but instead to fairly allocate the scarce resources available to the Skydive Broncos. Should you not receive funding, but still wish to partake in team activities, we welcome you to do so.

This application is for new and beginning skydivers looking to achieve their A-License. Important notes below:

● Applicants who have 3 or more semesters of study left at Western will be prioritized.

● Applicants not accepted to receive funding may work towards their A-License independently and are by no means excluded from participation with the team. Students can reapply for a funding slot following the successful completion of their first solo-pull skydive.

● The use of all un-utilized funds will be re-evaluated at the end of each season and may not roll over from year to year.

● This application does not guarantee any particular funding amount; instead, approved jump allocations will be further distributed based on funds available as well as general commitment.

● Students are responsible for paying for their own tandem jump. Funding will only be provided to a student after the completion of their first tandem.

The application for funding closes annually on November 30th
